The History of NarroWay Homestead

NarroWay Homestead was established by Nate Petroski in March 2020. NarroWay is located on 102 acres of undeveloped land in the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia. The homestead is run on solar-powered electricity and a rainwater collection system both designed and built by Nate. In the first year of homesteading, Nate also put up a storage building and outhouse as well as designed and built a fully functional outdoor kitchen area that includes an old cook stove. With dreams of building a house in the future, Nate lived in an old RV he put on the property.

In the 4 years Nate has been building NarroWay, he has built a large outhouse closer to the living area, a duck coop, a carport and a small living quarters. 2024 brings plans to build a garage while planning for a house build.

NarroWay is home to Nate and Jen along with Lord Minion (famous little pug mix), Lady Charlo (Jen's American cocker spaniel), Knight Az (Turkish Boz Shepherd) and 21 ducks. There are plans to possibly add additional animals once the Homestead build is complete.

Minion

Minion, a pug/dachshund/chihuahua mix, was found under Nate’s car one winter morning. He was scared and wouldn’t come to Nate when he attempted to coax him out. Once Nate was able to get closer to Minion, the little dog bit his thumb.  Nate wasn’t sure what to do with Minion. He looked and searched for Minion’s home hoping he could return him to his owners. Unfortunately, nobody claimed Minion as theirs. Nate decided he would keep Minion and give him a loving home and a healthy lifestyle. Minion learned many tricks and even rode on the motorcycle with Nate. Minion helped Nate with projects and work. They spent most of their time together becoming best friends. In 2020 Minion moved to the Homestead with Nate and became an off-grid farm dog. Since living on the homestead Minion has become friends with many ducks, his cats Saber and Dagger and the big livestock guardian dog, Az.
